This mother probably has the best intentions, but is she doing the right thing? I think it is morally unacceptable to indoctrinate little children, if she really wants to educate her children, she should teach about other possibilities (in a neutral way) as well, and let her children make up their own mind. Brainwashing is a crime. Maybe it’s just me… Most religious people I know, are religious because they were raised that way, and never really had a fair chance to see things in a different perspective. Their parents ‘blessed’ them with ignorance and a tunnel vision for the rest of their lives. At 1:46 she explains how bad it would be if school taught children that creationism is stupid, but yet she is doing the exact same thing about evolutionists. Hypocrisy at its finest!
OhReallyNoWai asked:
@OhReallyNoWai yes i feel like a sinner! because i AM one… yes, He died for our sins, and im free from my sins, but i can’t help but feel so unworthy of such a gift as salvation when i am the the sinner that i am. make sense? if you were to read the whole story and truly understand it it would make more sense. honestly, i really do mean that and not in a rude way i promise.
and very true, i have a true lasting HOPE, why would you want to take that away from me?
@iLuvHomeSchool I have read the bible but still don’t see the point of the story. A guy named Jesus who claimed to be God, got ‘sacrificed’ to himself… all in order to pay for your sins, and yet you feel like a sinner. Funny thing is, Christians think that being born is already a sin. It’s a shame that human beings take this story seriously. You lost the ability to reason somewhere in your childhood my friend. But as long as you’re happy in your little fantasy world ill be happy for you
@OhReallyNoWai well it doesnt sound to me like you’ve read it very well because im not sure what your talking about that would be immoral in todays society???
and umm? personally i dont feel right about myself? i feel like a sinner that has been saved by the grace of God! and you know what, your right, we don’t live up to the standard we are suppose to but thats why Jesus came and died for us and was the Christ! He took our sins upon Himself and was the perfect sacrifice! we’re forgiven!!!
@iLuvHomeSchool I have indeed read the new testament, it is also full of things that a modern society regards as immoral. But how can I help it if people like to close their eyes to it, and just choose and pick whatever they like, only to make them feel right about themselves. I doubt that most Christians strictly live up to all of these ‘rules’, but somehow they still think they please God and go to heaven. If you grew up without a religion you would see how insane this all is.
@OhReallyNoWai haha wow i honestly think its so funny when ppl argue this way… ok to your first question, to an extent, yes i believe its wrong. 2, yes. however i know where your going with that and i have a question in response to that, have you read the new testament?
@OhReallyNoWai Then, I’m sorry you have such a limited pool of people from which to glean any insight into what might bring someone to Christianity.
@mrstorymachine That mother explained pretty clear how she educates her children. And no I don’t know anyone personally who was stupid enough to convert to Christianity. You think it’s odd to come up with an opinion about a movie that’s ‘only’ 4 minutes long, well I think it’s quite odd to believe that something exists while there is no evidence at all.
“The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason.” – Benjamin Franklin
@OhReallyNoWai Well, you siad MOST of the religious people you knew had that experience so I asked about those you knew that had converted later in life (as in had NOT been raised in a Christian home). And I think it’s rather odd that you would come up with an opinion on anyone from 4 minutes of video that has been cut and edited. Maybe it’s just me…
@mrstorymachine I analyzed this movie and gave my opinion, but never claimed that all christian homeschooling is like this. And do you even know the meaning of converting? Converting usually happens when a person is actually convinced and makes a ‘rational’ decision. The Christians that I know were just little children when they got indoctrinated, they didn’t have a fair chance to see things differently, and they believe, without questioning, everything that has been fed to them.
So you are basing your opinion of this Christian homeschooling on 4 minutes and 5 seconds of footage. What about the religious people you know that were not raised that way? What reasons do they give for “converting”? If I may ask…
@mrstorymachine nope, where did you get that idea? I solely gave my opinion about this movie (and thus only about this mother and her 2 children), and also told about my OWN personal experiences with Christians.
So we are to base our opinion of an entire “culture” on a 4 minute 5 sec video? Do you believe the religious private schools are also “morally unacceptable”?
@iLuvHomeSchool I know Christians like to defend themselves even though they have nothing to back up their arguments, so before you hopelessly tie yourself up while trying to defend your faith, I have two simple questions for you, just answer with yes or no: 1: do you think slavery is wrong? 2: do you think a child should be murdered by his/her parents if he/she curses them?
wow! im sorry but if you are a true Christian ONE, we are commanded to raise our children in the fear and admonition of the LORD. it is a COMMAND! deuteronomy 4:9, deuteronomy 6:5-7, deuteronomy 11:19, proverbs 22:6, isaiah 38:19, ephesians 6:4. its not an option. and TWO, if we are true Christians and believe in such a love as Gods, how SELFISH and WRONG and HATRED a people are we to keep that love to ourselves and NOT pass it on??
