@XLuminariumX You are right, however that term was coined in the late 1800′s and has since been disproven. Everyone on the planet originated in Africa, and spread out from there. @jdfox1 Which, I should underscore emphatically, was an incorrect assumption. If anything, the traits we associate with northern Europeans are a very modern mutation. The original Indo-European people, the so called “Aryans,” were from the region north and west of India, and so probably of an Iranian/Indian appearance. Migration west was a later event. You aren’t any more Aryan than anyone from most of Europe, Iran and India. Be proud of the German thing, but drop the out-dated, racist term.
@jdfox1 “Aryan” in the German context is an inherently racist construct. Aryan is a Sanskrit word (a cognate of Iran) that was applied by linguists and historical geneticists to identify the people who originally spoke the Indo-European language (the parent tongue of most European, Iranian and Indic languages). The Nazis decided that they were one relatively pure holdover of this original people, and therefore called themselves Aryan. It’s a credo of racial superiority; nothing to be proud of.
