I didnt write this post, the source is on the bottom of the article. I had just posted it because of its relevance to Friday the 13th. Nothing on this site is authored by its contributors. This is just an archival blog.

I too don't agree with those words . I personaly reserve stronger words towards the catholic church.

Templar Knight Eternal!

thanks for the post.

I would be very careful to post such assured comments such as that the Templars were 'just brutal, pious, simple-minded men'. I haven't studied the subject of the Knight Templars were closely but I am aware that there is great controversy as to the true background of the Knight Templars.

Some things I believe should be mentioned:
1) Templars had a great influence on the FreeMasons, some of the founding members were probably Templars. Those Templars who weren't caught by Philip (or those who agreed that they were satan-worshippers and were therefore freed) escaped mainly to Britain.
2) Templars were involved in mysticism to such a degree that it became widely known. I heard that they may have even worshipped Isis at some point. There was a lot of magical ritual, initiation rituals - the whole works. There have also been some studies as to the geographical positioning of Templar fortresses in Europe and some interesting shapes were found - a pentagram for example.
3) I seem to remember that a whole Templar fleet vanished from the face of the Earth after the arrest.
4) There are some rather far-fetched theories as to the true purpose of the Knights Templar - eg. that they were the protectors of the Holy Grail,... Nevertheless there may be some truth to there being an unknown purpose to the order.
5) I believe that the main reason why the order was destroyed was simply Philip's wish to get his hands on the Templar coffers. The templars were richer by this point than any kingdom in Europe. The Templars were pretty much the founders of banking as we know it now - eg. you could deposit your money in any Templar headquarters and take it out again anywhere else (useful for people traveling to the Holy War). That is the prime reason why the Knight Templars are sometimes linked with the Illuminati and other 'secret societies'.
