Crusher (CMU’s military Unmanned Ground Vehicle)

Crusher is a 6.5-ton autonomous off-road Unmanned Ground Combat Vehicle developed by researchers at the Carnegie Mellon University's National Robotics Engineering Center for DARPA.
The robot can travel over extreme terrain, such as a 4-foot vertical wall, and is able to carry more than 8,000 pounds of payload at a top speed of 26 miles per hour. It was on display in Pittsburgh on April 29, 2006. Its first two years of military service will be restricted to support role duties.

Military Robots

Unlike its human counterparts, an armed robot does not require food, clothing, training, motivation or a pension. The Pentagon is spending $US127 billion on a program to build heavily armed robots for the battlefield. Are we now setting a precedent of blatant disregard to Asimov's laws of robotics? There are already robots in Iraq, as you read this description -- this is no longer the realm of science fiction.

2057 The World part, made by the discovery channel with Michio Kaku the renowned physicist. This episode predicts the future energy crisis. With oil reserves nearly depleted, tension between China and the U.S escalates, war is inevitable. Fossil fuels alternatives are explored in the program. As we look to the future and the tools of technology integrating into our lives, this video, from the discovery channel, is a 'Futurist" piece that peers into the looking glass of the next 50 years. I thought that this series was terrific believe that it aired last year (summer 2007).
