SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea on Monday claimed it has performed a successful nuclear test, according to that country’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

South Korean government officials also said North Korea performed its first nuclear test, the South’s Yonhap news agency reported.

The apparent nuclear test was conducted at 10:36 a.m. (1:36 a.m. GMT) in Hwaderi near Kilju city, Yonhap reported, citing defense officials.

“The field of scientific research in the DPRK (North Korea’s official name) successfully conducted an underground nuclear test under secure conditions on October 9 … at a stirring time when all the people of the country are making a great leap forward in the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation,” KCNA reported.

In Washington, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said, “We can’t confirm independently, although we’re aware of the reports.”

A senior U.S. official said China was given a 20-minute warning ahead of the test and in turn told the United States, Japan and South Korea about getting the advance notice.

A U.S. military official told CNN that “something clearly has happened,” but the Pentagon was working to fully confirm the report.

Other senior U.S. officials said they also believed the test took place, citing seismic data that appears to show one.

The U.S. Geological Survey Web site recorded a light 4.2-magnitude earthquake in North Korea at 10:35 a.m., about 385 kilometers (240 miles) northeast of the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.

New research from the Scripps Research Institute in California shows that the active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), may prevent the progression of Alzheimer’s disease by preserving levels of an important neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh) which is responsible for learning and memory as well as muscle contractions. The THC found in marijuana works more effectively at preventing the break down of ACh on those with Alzheimer’s disease as opposed to the other pharmaceutical drugs currently available on the market for patients.

THC is also more effective at blocking clumps of protein that can inhibit memory and cognition in Alzheimer’s patients, the researchers reported in the journal Molecular Pharmaceutics.

The researchers said their discovery could lead to more effective drug treatment for Alzheimer’s, the leading cause of dementia among the elderly.

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and irreversible brain disorder characterized by gradual deterioration of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Those afflicted suffer memory loss, impaired reasoning, diminished language, and physical functioning. The ultimate cause of the disease is unknown, though believed to be hereditary.

Marijuana is also used to relieve glaucoma and can help reduce side effects from cancer and AIDS treatment.

Possessing marijuana for recreational use is illegal in many parts of the world, including the United States, though some states allow possession for medical purposes.

The video above was supposedly taken in the aftermath of the UFO Crash at Roswell, New Mexico, in July 1947. You can see Army officers examining an alien corpse on a stretcher. No other information about this video available.

Alien Autopsy - The Santilli film

Santilli instigated a worldwide “alien autopsy” controversy with what he claimed was footage taken by a US military cameraman shortly after the 1947 Roswell UFO incident (the film is also known as “the tent footage” as it was supposed to have been shot in a tent close to the crash site). Santilli first presented his film to an invited audience of media representatives, UFOlogists and other dignitaries at the Museum of London on 5 May 1995. The footage was subsequently seen by tens of millions of TV viewers in more than thirty countries worldwide.

Santilli’s original footage can be seen on the Laserdisc and VHS versions of Alien Autopsy – Fact or Fiction, a program shown on the Fox television network in 1995. Although the broadcast version did not show the actual “autopsy”, those editions have the complete and unedited film, plus previously unreleased footage of wreckage from the purported alien craft. The show features interviews with experts on the authenticity of the film. Fox itself produced a second program debunking the video as a hoax a couple of years later.

Robert Anton Wilson or RAW was born January 18, 1932, in Methodist hospital, downtown Brooklyn, New York and spent his first years in Flatbush, moving with family to Gerrison Beach around the age of 4 or 5, where they stayed till he turned 13. He is known for his work as a novelist, essayist, philosopher, psychologist, futurist, anarchist, and conspiracy researcher.

His best-known work—The Illuminatus! Trilogy (1975), co-authored with Robert Shea—humorously examined American paranoia about conspiracies. These books mix true information with imaginative fiction to engage the reader in what Wilson called "Operation Mindfuck". (Much of the odder material derived from letters sent to Playboy magazine while Shea and Wilson worked as editors of the Playboy Forum.) It was advertised as "A fairy tale for paranoids." Although Shea and Wilson never partnered on such a scale again, Wilson has continued to expand upon the themes of the Illuminatus! books throughout his writing career.

Ironically, considering Wilson has long lampooned and criticized new age beliefs, his books can often be found in bookstores specializing in new age material. He has claimed to have had encounters with magical ‘entities,’ and when asked whether these entities were ‘real,’ he answered they were ‘real enough,’ although ‘not as real as the IRS’ since they were ‘easier to get rid of.’ He warned against beginners using occult practice, since to rush into such practices and the resulting ‘energies’ they unleash can lead people to go ‘quite nuts.’ Instead, he recommends beginners start with NLP, Zen Buddhism, basic meditation, etc., before progressing to more potentially disturbing activities.

RAW holds the post of American director of the Committee for Surrealist Investigation of Claims of the Normal (CSICON) and has appeared at Disinformation events. He has summed up his attitude towards life as one of optimism, cheerfulness, love, and good humor.
